Vic Damone was a singer loved by people all over the world. His hits, such as “You’re Breaking My Heart”, “On the Street Where You Live”, and “My Heart Cries for You”, were performed thousands of times, and people never got tired of listening to them. Born in NY in 1928, he knew from his early years that life isn’t a bed of roses. Thus, he worked his way towards success.
When his father, an electrician, was injured at work, Vic became the only breadwinner of the family and left school to provide for them.
Twice married, Vic had a good life. However, 2000 was marked with a stroke. He recovered soon and even had a farewell tour after which he decided to retire.

Sad duty to report an American legend has died: Family of Vic Damone asked me to share he passed Sun nite in Miami. Frank Sinatra said he had best pipes in biz. More importantly a dear father, grandfather & friend. #RIP #vicdamone @ap @nancysinatra @shinysheet #shinysheet

Legendary crooner Vic Damone passed away on Sunday at the age of 89. I still play some of his 78s from the 40s. He was simply one of the best! You’ll be missed Vic! pic.twitter.com/Gl05D2P6p6

Sad to learn of VIC DAMONE’s passing. Rose Marie loved when he did a guest shot on The Dick Van Dyke Show. She talked about singing with him when they’d appear in the same city & they’d end up in one of the lounges where there were working & just have a grand time together.~KB pic.twitter.com/HVuGlnlUsw

I cry like a baby every time one of my idols leaves us, & today’s no exception. An incredible singer, Vito Rocco Farinola, (Vic Damone) was also a super gracious, lovely man, and a good friend of my dads. I mention him whenever I sing this https://t.co/kzRRRgvnqP #Oneofakind pic.twitter.com/z6TMwsNqjM
