Shirley Bassey has come a long way since her early days singing in a men’s club. At 19, she released her first single. The ‘Banana Boat Song’ got her international attention. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, she stunned the world with her mix of jazz, funk, and soul.
New hoax claims she is dead
Bassey has joined the list of celebrities who have been proclaimed dead while still being alive. The latest hoax started after Manfred Mann vocalist, Mike D’Abo, told the audience at a concert in Cardiff last week that Bassey was dead.

According to D’Abo, he got a phone call with the news. The audience was shocked, and the news quickly spread.
A representative of Bassey said the information was “completely false” and that Bassey was “alive and kicking.”
Bassey later shared a post on her official Facebook saying, “Official confirmation received that Dame Shirley Bassey is alive and well — contrary to social media!” Bassey recently celebrated her 81st birthday.
She is not the only one who has been hoaxed
Early last month, the actor Sylvester Stallone was also declared dead. It was said the TV star had fought and lost a fight with cancer. The 71-year-old who is famous for his portrayal of Rocky Balboa in the Rocky movie series was however far from dead.
He shared this message to reassure fans on social media.
Please ignore this stupidity… Alive and well and happy and healthy… Still punching!
