Cassandra Naud, a professional dancer and fashion model from Canada, refused to have a plastic surgery and decided to leave her huge birthmark which covers the entire cheek. The woman loves her individuality and unique appearance.
But it wasn’t so easy in the beginning. When Cassandra was born, her parents were given an option to have it removed. Nevertheless, doctors were afraid it could leave her face scarred, so her mom and dad decided not to do anything with the birthmark at that point.
When she was studying at school, there were some bullies who told cruel things about her appearance. At one point, Cassandra wanted to remove the birthmark and was considering the possibility of having a plastic surgery.
Their cruel remarks were hard to deal with, and I’d often fight back tears. I felt ugly — even if only for that moment — and I was terrified of how I’d be treated once I got to high school.
But her parents made her more confident in herself by telling her she is beautiful the way she looks. And Cassandra changed her mind and loves her birthmark a lot.
Cassandra’s birthmark doesn’t slow down her career. Moreover, it made her memorable in the fashion and dancing industries.
It makes me unique and memorable, which is especially important for the career I’ve chosen.
Cassandra urges other people to be proud of who they are.
Times are changing, so don’t worry about looking normal. Don’t let bullies stop you and be proud of your uniqueness.
What an experience.. As I wake up this morning over thinking the past three days I can’t help but smile. Being on set and combining my two favorite passions of dancing and acting has been a gift. Thank you to the @smallfishfilm team and of course our director @max.beauchamp for believing in me and just being straight up brilliant. And of course the beautiful @christinaschell whom I had the pleasure of sharing the screen with. Can’t wait to see all our hard work at the @crazy8sfilms Gala!
Cassandra is now a popular professional dancer and fashion model with lots of fans. And she is also proud of being so unique!
